What this shelf is really about

Cross-section against length. 1.5 mm² is ample for ordinary runs, 2.5 mm² for long runs or low-impedance speakers, and beyond that the returns are theoretical. Connectors are a convenience — the connection works perfectly well with bare wire — and their value is that they stay tight and go in the same way every time.

The range that distinguishes these

0.75 mm² to 6 mm². The widest on this shelf by a distance. If the cable is heavy — and 4 or 6 mm² cable is genuinely thick — most plugs simply will not close around it. These will.

The termination

A double screw clamp. Two screws bearing on the conductor, reversible as often as needed. That is the right choice for a system that gets rearranged, against a crimp which is one attempt with a tool most people do not own.

The sprung lamellae

They keep the plug tight in a binding post that has been used many times. It is a small mechanical detail and it is the difference between a plug that stays put and one that drops out when the cable is nudged.
