Twelve plugs, six red and six black. Almost every set on this shelf contains four, which terminates one speaker. Twelve terminates three, which is a front stage — and the colour split matches the way a system is actually wired.

The arithmetic worth doing first

Four plugs per speaker if both ends are terminated. A 5.1 system therefore needs twenty, with the subwoofer on an RCA cable instead. Twelve is a start rather than a complete job, and knowing that before ordering saves a second delivery.

The closed body

It contains the strands. An open plug lets a stray strand escape and touch its neighbour, and a short across an amplifier’s speaker terminals is the wiring mistake with real consequences. A closed body removes that failure entirely.

The cable range

0.5 mm² to 3.5 mm². Fine for ordinary 1.5 and 2.5 mm² cable, and not enough for heavy 4 or 6 mm² runs — for those, the Sonero set on this shelf goes to 6 mm².

The housing

Aluminium alloy rather than brass. Lighter, less rigid, and adequate for a plug that lives in a binding post and is not handled.
