What this site is, and how it is paid for
CinemaVerdict is an independent editorial site about the equipment that makes the image and the sound of a living room — projectors and projection screens, soundbars and subwoofers, AV receivers and amplifiers, speakers and speaker packages, television and projector mounts, streaming boxes, disc players and receivers — and the cables, stands, adapters and lamps that go with them. It does not cover televisions themselves, whose references are national and differ market by market. Brightness figures, contrast ratios, power ratings, frequency responses and load capacities published by manufacturers are reported as such, with their unit written as published, with their source named, and never derived by us. In particular, a brightness figure that is not expressed in ANSI lumens is reported as the manufacturer expressed it and is never converted. Nothing here replaces a manufacturer's own installation instructions, which govern in particular any fixing to a wall or a ceiling — and one statement is repeated on every page that touches mounting: the load a mount states describes the mount, not the wall it is fixed to.
