The starting point for this whole shelf
Reception is decided by geography, not by the box. Distance from the transmitter, what stands between, which floor you are on, which way the building faces. No aerial changes those, and the differences between products are smaller than the differences between positions in a room.
Which makes cable length the real specification
Five metres. The useful spot is normally a window facing the transmitter; the television is normally somewhere else. A short cable decides the position for you. Five metres lets you hunt for it, and hunting is what actually improves reception here.
The magnetic base
It sticks to any metal surface — a radiator, a window frame, a bracket — without adhesive or drilling. On a product whose position has to be found by trial, that is the right mounting method.
Omnidirectional, and what it costs
No aiming, which is convenient. It also means the aerial is less selective: a directional aerial rejects signals from behind it, which matters near an interfering source. Convenience against selectivity, and for most households convenience wins.
What is missing
A gain figure in dB, and a bypass switch. Without the first, the amplification cannot be compared with anything. Without the second, it cannot be turned off where the signal is already strong — and where it is strong, amplification makes things worse.
