A combo receiver that handles both cable and terrestrial, with recording and timeshift — and an integrated conditional access system, which is a national specification.
The bottom line A properly equipped combo receiver for the German market — and the access system that makes it convenient is what ties it there.
DVB-C and DVB-T2. Cable and terrestrial. A household that moves, or that switches from one to the other, does not need a new receiver — which is a modest advantage that turns out to matter.
PVR and timeshift. Timeshift is the more used of the two: pausing live television and resuming it. Both require a USB drive that is not supplied, and most receivers format the drive on first use, which erases it.
An integrated Irdeto access system, for encrypted German terrestrial channels. That is convenient inside Germany and meaningless outside it, and it is the clearest example of why this family does not travel the way the rest of the catalogue does.
4K. Terrestrial broadcasting is Full HD in most of Europe, so this is a property of the medium rather than of the receiver.
Confirm which reception you actually have — cable, terrestrial or satellite — and whether the channels you want are encrypted. Those two answers decide the purchase entirely.

That the receiver can record to an external USB drive, which is not included. It also usually means the drive has to be formatted by the receiver, which erases it — worth knowing before plugging in a drive with anything on it.
Because parts of German terrestrial television are encrypted and require a subscription with a conditional access system. A receiver with it integrated needs no separate module; one without needs both the module and the card.
