  • A safety pin at each locking position, which is the right mechanism for a tall stand under load
  • A stated 30 kg per stand, far beyond any domestic speaker
  • A minimum height of 120 cm is far above a seated ear — this is not a home cinema stand

Best for: PA cabinets on a stage, a rehearsal room or an event — not a listening room.

What a speaker stand does acoustically

One thing: it puts the tweeter at the height of a seated ear — most sofas put ears between 95 and 110 cm. Everything else about a stand is mechanical.

Why this one is on a different errand

120 to 180 cm. Its minimum is above where a domestic tweeter should be, and its maximum is well above standing head height. That is a PA stand, designed to put a cabinet above an audience, and it does that job properly.

The interface that confirms it

A 35 mm flange. PA cabinets have a matching socket moulded into their base. Domestic speakers do not, and no adapter makes one appear.

The mechanism worth crediting

A safety pin at each of four positions. A friction collar on a tall stand can slip under load and drop a speaker from head height; a pin through the tube cannot. On any stand carrying weight above a person, that is the right answer.

What this shelf does not offer

A fillable column. Packing a hollow column with sand adds mass and stops it ringing, and it is the one measurable improvement in the category. None of the four stands in this catalogue offers it — this one is a tripod, which cannot be filled at all.
