A full-range driver in a small cube, passive, 8 Ω. That is the simplest possible loudspeaker, and at this price it is exactly what should be expected.
8 Ω. It is the easiest load an amplifier can be asked to drive, and stating it removes the only compatibility question a passive speaker raises. Several speakers costing ten times more in this catalogue do not state theirs.
A subwoofer. Not as a refinement — a cabinet this size produces almost nothing below a few hundred hertz. Set the receiver to “small” for these channels and hand everything below the crossover to the subwoofer, or accept a thin sound.
Rear channels, height channels, an office, a second room. In those roles their limitations matter least and their price matters most.
As the front pair of a music system. There, the missing bass is the music, and no amplifier or setting recovers it.

Only with a subwoofer doing everything below the crossover. A cube this size produces very little low frequency, and a stereo system built on them alone will sound thin regardless of the amplifier.
Easier, not better. An 8 Ω load asks less of an amplifier, which means any receiver drives it comfortably. A 4 Ω speaker can extract more power from a capable amplifier and can overheat a weak one.
