The sentence that should be on every listing here

“Uncompressed 2-channel LPCM or PCM; 5.1 is not compatible — please set the audio output accordingly.”

That is the failure everyone on this shelf meets. A converter fed a Dolby Digital or DTS bitstream produces silence, not distortion and not a quieter signal. It reads exactly like a dead unit, and it is a menu setting on the television. This is the only listing here that says so.

The two inputs

Optical and coaxial. Coaxial carries the same S/PDIF data over copper, and some older equipment has only that socket. Having both means the unit fits whatever the source actually offers.

Not reversible

Stated plainly. It converts digital to analogue and not the other way. That stops a wrong purchase, and it is the kind of statement that saves a return.
