The claim that is unusual and useful

Most braided cables are braided because braid sells. This one states that its cotton mesh is more flexible than nylon braid, and gives that flexibility as the reason. Behind a cabinet, that is the right thing to optimise: a tight bend can break the fibre, and the failure is total, not gradual.

The advantage optical keeps

No electrical connection between the two devices. That means no ground loop, and therefore no mains hum — the one thing an optical cable does that a copper one cannot, and the reason to reach for it when a system buzzes.

The limit it shares with the whole shelf
