The bottom line A real 5.1 system in one box — matched by design, with the receiver it needs stated plainly rather than assumed.
Matching. Five speakers designed together share voicing, and a sound moving from left to centre does not change character. Assembling that from separate purchases takes knowledge and discipline; a package gives it by construction.
A receiver. The speakers are passive, so they need amplification, decoding and switching — and that is the more expensive half of the system. Every “5.1 package” page on this site says this, because it is the most common and most expensive misunderstanding in home cinema.
Five speakers and an active subwoofer. The subwoofer has its own amplifier, which is why it is the one component that plugs into the mains.
A package is bought whole. A range — Polk’s Monitor XT, Teufel’s own Ultima — is bought a piece at a time and improved a piece at a time. Which is right depends on whether the system is meant to be finished or to evolve.
Run the receiver’s room correction after everything is placed, and set the crossover where the small speakers stop. Those two steps matter more to the result than the choice between this package and its neighbours.
