A large double-sided outdoor screen — projectable from either side, which is what makes a garden screening work with the machine wherever it fits.
The bottom line The flexible outdoor answer — large, double-sided, and demanding of both the projector's brightness and what is behind the screen.
Where the projector goes. Front projection puts the machine among the audience with a beam to walk through; rear projection puts it behind the screen, out of the way entirely. A fabric that works both ways lets the garden decide rather than the equipment.
Opacity. A screen that can be projected from behind cannot have a black backing, so anything bright behind it shows through. Position it with darkness behind it, not with a house window.
265 cm of width, outdoors, usually with a portable projector. Those two facts pull in opposite directions: a large image from a modest machine is dim. Either use a mains-powered projector, or accept a smaller effective image by sitting closer.
Stated, and worth having. Folded fabric keeps its lines; a weave designed to relax quickly reduces the wait. Hanging it a few hours before the screening is still the practical answer.
Not stated. Nearly three metres of fabric outdoors is a sail, and how it is tied down decides whether the evening works.

Putting the machine behind the screen instead of in front of it. Nobody walks through the beam, no shadows, and the projector is out of the seating area entirely. It needs the projector's image to be mirrored, which is a menu setting on almost every machine.
Partly, by construction: a fabric that can be projected onto from either side cannot have an opaque backing. In a garden with lights behind the screen, that shows. Position the screen with darkness behind it.
