A centre speaker designed to be added to an existing stereo pair from the same range — which is how most surround systems actually grow.
The bottom line The right centre for one specific system, and an ordinary one for any other — which is exactly what a range-matched speaker should be.
Teufel says this speaker exists to extend an Ultima stereo set. That is a better description of a centre speaker’s job than any specification: most people arrive at surround by adding to what they have, not by buying five speakers at once.
The front three speakers reproduce a voice as it moves across the screen. If they share drivers and crossover design, it stays the same voice; if they do not, it changes character in the middle. Buying inside a range is the reliable way to get that right.
FSC-certified wood, stated. It is a material specification and a sourcing one, and on a speaker cabinet the material genuinely affects what the box adds to the sound.
Sensitivity, impedance, frequency response. On a centre channel — the hardest-worked speaker in a system — those are the figures that decide amplifier matching, and this listing carries none of them.

Physically yes; it is a passive speaker with ordinary terminals. What you lose is the matching that is its whole argument — the reason to buy this particular centre is that it shares drivers and crossover design with the Ultima pair it was designed for.
