Bennett & Ross Ålesund vertical micro system with CD, FM, USB and Bluetooth NFC review

A vertical compact system that can be wall mounted — which in a small room is the specification that decides whether it fits at all.

The bottom line Bought for where it goes rather than for what it publishes — a wall-mountable system with a disc player, at the bottom of the shelf.

The specification that is about your room

Wall mountable. A compact system normally needs a surface, and in a kitchen or a small bedroom that surface is the constraint. A vertical unit that hangs removes it, and that decides the purchase more often than any audio specification.

What it costs acoustically

A speaker near a wall reinforces bass. Depending on the room, that is fullness or boom. If the unit can also stand free, trying both is worth ten minutes.

What is not stated

A power figure, of any kind. That is unusual even at this price, and this page reports the absence rather than estimating.

The pairing detail

NFC. Touching a phone to the unit pairs it, which removes the menu. Small, and the kind of thing that decides whether a household actually uses the Bluetooth.

What it is not

A music system for a main room. FM only, no network streaming, no stated power. It is a convenient object for a small space, and it is honest about being one.

Questions people actually ask

Does wall mounting change the sound?

Yes, and usually toward more bass: a speaker close to a wall reinforces low frequencies. Whether that is welcome depends on the room, and it is a reason to try it in both positions if the system can stand as well as hang.

Is FM-only a problem?

In countries where DAB+ carries stations that FM does not, yes. Otherwise it is a difference in reception quality rather than in availability, and FM has the advantage of working where digital coverage is patchy.
