The bottom line A Full HD player that also handles local files and 3D — the right choice for an existing collection, and not for a 4K one.
What it plays
3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD, with Full HD upscaling for the last of those. Plus MKV files from USB, which is unusual and which turns the player into a local media device.
What it does not play
UHD discs. This is a Full HD player, and 4K Blu-ray is a separate format with its own licence and its own hardware. If the collection includes or will include 4K, this player is the wrong choice regardless of everything else.
Why 3D is worth noting
It has quietly disappeared from most current players. If a household has 3D discs and a display that supports them, the number of players that will play them is now small.
The internet apps
They age faster than the mechanism. A disc player bought today will still play discs in ten years; its apps will have been abandoned long before. Treat them as a bonus rather than a feature.
Where it belongs
Behind a Full HD television or projector, with a collection of discs and a USB drive of files. In that role it does two jobs and does them for a long time.

What we like, and what we don't
Strengths
MKV playback from USB, so a local media collection plays without another device
DVD upscaling, which matters for a collection that predates Blu-ray
3D support, which has quietly disappeared from most current players
Compromises
Full HD rather than 4K UHD — it will not play UHD discs
Internet apps on a player of this generation age faster than the disc mechanism does
No Dolby Vision or HDR support, which follows from it being a Full HD player

Questions people actually ask
Will it play 4K discs?
No. It is a Full HD player: Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray and DVD. UHD discs need a UHD player, and that is a different product with a different licence. If the collection is or will be 4K, this is the wrong shelf position.
Is MKV playback useful?
If you have files on a drive, yes — MKV is the common container for them, and a player that reads it removes a separate media box. It is an unusual feature on a disc player and a genuinely practical one.
Full HD 1080p · Blu-ray region B/2 · all-region DVD · Dolby Digital · HDMI and AV · USB to 128 GB · PAL/NTSC
A compact player that states its region behaviour precisely — Blu-ray locked to B/2, DVD unlocked — which is exactly the information a disc buyer needs.
Best for: A DVD collection bought across regions, on a system where compressed audio is sufficient.
A 4K UHD DLP projector that states its brightness in ANSI lumens at a price where most of the shelf stops doing so — and a specification sheet that reads like a data table rather than a sales page.
Best for: A first 4K projector in a room where the light can be controlled and the machine can sit where the throw ratio wants it.
